His writing centers on a fascination with the filth bubbling underneath the everyday - the dangers of modern isolation, media saturation, toxic masculinity - the modern lonely life in an overcrowded, underconnected world.

 

Growing up split between the suburbs and the city proper as the son of a single mother, Ian's working-class upbringing provides a depth of experience and an earnestness to his voice.

When he isn't busy plunging his characters into waking nightmares, Ian likes to spend time with his extended family on front porches, back decks and parks. He's a self-described coffee-snob, and loves every animal he's ever met.
